OUR DANK STORY

It all began in Istanbul, Turkey. As a Brazilian living there, I couldn’t help but notice the incredible local artists creating meaningful work yet struggling to be seen. Why weren’t their stories being told? Was it language barriers, stereotypes, or something deeper? Amid the chaos of the pandemic, I felt a spark to change that. The Dank Project was born—a platform to showcase Turkish artists and their unique journeys.

But over time, I realized something: this story wasn’t unique to Turkey. After moving to Portugal, I saw the same pattern—artists everywhere, full of talent and passion, yet overlooked by the global stage. Why should this platform be confined to one country when so many voices deserve to be heard?

The Dank Project evolved into a global platform, celebrating independent artists from underrepresented regions and connecting them with a worldwide audience. It’s not just about art; it’s about the stories behind the art—the struggles, the resilience, and the beauty of creation.

Today, The Dank Project is home to The Dank Journal, where we share curated narratives of artists and their work, and The Dank Kitchen, by Alison Jenster, a space to explore cultures through food, recipes, and culinary creatives. These are more than features—they’re gateways to understanding the world through creativity and connection.

This project is my love letter to artists everywhere. It’s a reminder that no matter where you’re from, your voice matters. Your art matters. And together, we can build a community that celebrates creativity in all its forms.

Thank you for being part of this journey.

Much love <3
